Well, I moved in the summer of 2005 from Lincolnwood to Round Lake.
After attending a fantastic year at Niles West, I was punished by Zeus and forced to attend Grayslake Central High School.

As expected, my life was a bloody mess, but moments of happiness shone through.  I was never afraid of the social scene, and in some way, this school is much nicer.  The people here are decent and good natured for the most part.  No one is vile enough for me to loathe.  There are also those people who I have to come to call as my friends.  There was always a reason to cry, but Zeus is definitely a softy and granted me peace where I thought only hate could be found.

Her name is Bailey. She was the very first person I became acquainted with in Grayslake.  We were partnered up with people in hopes of becoming new friends in economics class.  Throughout the year, she has always been a nice and smiling face.

Thao! She really is a good friend and an even better person..  We first met in Spanish class because she sat right next to me.  We became fast friends and have always been partners for any activities.  We also enjoyed the company of Megumi until 2nd semester where her schedule changed drastically!  Thao has introduced me to so many people, and I really don't know how to thank her generosity for everything.  I've always been included in any functions or outings she has.  She trusts me, and I can only hope Zeus is smiling down on her.

Oh, dear.  It's Jackson.  Tchahaha. But really, my first impression of him wasn't very well off.  He was in so many of my classes, and he never even bothered to say hi.  I looked at him and thought, "SNOBBY little brat.  Ugh, what a geek."  And finally in our chemistry class, we were introduced.  He wasn't so bad after all.  We were in academic team together as well.  After I realized the extent of his intelligence, I soon became smitten!  Tchahahah.

Since we're on the subject of crushes! Or were we? Oh, well!  Meet Collin.  That's right!  With TWO L's!  The valedictorian of our class, of course I would have a crush on him.  He really went above and beyond in all that he did, and yes..he is the perfect image of a super geek.  We were also in academic team together, and he answered questions like Seth Motel!  Yikes!  I sincerely hope he does well in life.

Uh oh, and yet another crush.  His name is Tony.  Tchahahaha.  He's a junior and rather grungy.  Well, he looks grungy..so unkempt that it's yummy!  I gave him a candy cane for Christmas, and I have plenty of hugs and kisses to boast since then. Tchahaha.  Oh, he was in my gym class too, and I don't think he really knows how to pronounce my name. Note: He walks very slow.

Well, since we're in gym class, let me introduce the lovely Jean! AKA Pantalones.  She used to be in my math class but since her schedule changed, we shared 2nd semester individual sports together.  We became a trio along with Dorian (of whom I unfortunately do not have a picture with).  We suffered through health club in the weight room and bike lab together.

Diane! Yeaaauh.  I first approached her in our gym period when she was wearing the Filipino. American. shirt from the movie Debut.  I soon learned that her brother was Dustin who was in my English class.  He never failed to entertain the class with his antics, and I hope to see the siblings next year.

This is one of the people who Thao introduce me to.  His name is Caleb!  We first met on the Spanish field trip to Pilsen and we simply exchanged pleasantries whenever we passed in the hallways.  I seriously dig his style, yo.

This is Patrick Reed.  Quite intelligent and an interesting person overall.  He was in French class with me, and we constantly competed during oral examinations.  I appreciate the style in which he dresses, and I hope to see him more in debate club next year!  Il pourrait mieux parler francais.

Talented Alexis!  She really doesn't give herself enough credit.  She is quite talented in acting and singing.  I regret never being able to make her shows!  She is moving over the summer, and I will miss her terribly.  Hopefully, we will be able to spend time together and keep in touch.  Teehee, Hyunah and I enjoyed antagonizing her, but really that is quite sadistic of me.  Oh, and I also injured her with my skateboard!

Whoa-ho! Conrad!  I like to call him Dolphin boy, and I have an affinity for teasing him.  Teehee.  I also like to twirl his hair.  It's just too long.   We've had some weird memories in chemistry class and even outside of it!  Go run to your corner and hide!

Hyunah is really a fantastic person, and I can't believe she puts up with my BS.  Seriously, a great friend.  I introduced myself to her during lunch and invited her to join my hodge podge table of seniors.  We all became great friends, and now I can't imagine doing any homework without her (esp. chem).  Tehehe.  Next year, she plans to be NERD EXTREME, but I hope we'll still be close enough for me to loosen her up a bit.  Everyone needs fun in life, and I hope I provide a bit of that for her.   There's so many things I want to thank her for.

Haha, first of all, I totally do not enjoy you licking my face, John  We first met in chemistry class where he instantly made an impression on me as not only eccentric but very nice.  All right, he is an ass once in a while, but overall a fantastic person.  I remember once in chem class Mr. Becker asked us to define what hot was, and I screamed, "JOHN!"  Tchahaha.  He is outgoing and fun, and it makes me smile.

Where's Kathy? Oh, with Althea and Hyunah.  Where's Hyunah?  Oh with Kathy & Althea.  Where's Althea?  Oh, with Kathy & Hyunah.  Basically, it was the three of us hanging out in my living room and singing karaoke at the top of our longs.  Okay, so it was mostly Kathy screaming.  Geez, she has a good set of lungs on her!    I had fun during the school year on those Friday or Saturday nights where she would be over and we'd stuff ourselves with food.  We also looove to boooogiee woogie woooogie.  I promise, once you turn sixteen, Kat, we'll go clubbing.  Oh, and you really are a good friend no matter HOW loud you are.

Heehee, Nathaniel.  I first sat in his lunch table simply because of Arina, but I kept returning because I genuinely enjoyed his quirks.  I have learned a lot about DOJOs from him.  We were always trying do our homework during lunch, but we succeeded only in distracting each other.  Oh, and the INSULTS. The BURNS.  OUCH.  Much love, Nate.  Oh, and do something about your balding..and acne.  I still want to meet your father by the way.   "YOU HAVE EYES LIKE WAATAAH.  You will never be a true geisha!"

Aww, Tara.  We finally have a good picture!  Yeauuuh, only because it wasn't me taking it.  Teehee.  You're so sweet and absolutely nice.  I hope to know you better next year because our acquaintance was quite enjoyable.  Spanish class bores me out of my mind, and thanks for always letting me borrow pencils and whatnot.

Cathy Jo!  See?  This is an example of my amazing camera skills.  We randomly met in gym class because we always played volleyball on free days.  Yeauh, we're so skilled with our serving.  Tchaha.  We also met at Thao's party and through Caleb.  You are quite amusing, and I hope we get to play some volleyball or go roller coasting over the summer.

Cindy! We met through French club and bowling.  It was also nice when you moved to join our lunch table.  After the activities ended, we kind of drifted, but I hope we can make up for lost time next year!  You were very quirky and stared off into space often.  Haha, yes Eric can vouch for that!

He was the only freshman and male representative at our weird lunch table.  Teehee, Eric.  I can't believe he put up with all of us girls for that long, but he always provided us laughs.  For Christmas, he bought me oranges..but the janitor threw them away when he went to buy his lunch.  LMAO!  Oh, much love, Eric.

Chris!  STOP STARING DOWN MY SHIRT.  I had to go a whole week wearing only hoodies so you'd stop.  You perv..all right, you very nice and oddly funny perv.  And stop confusing me with Arina.  Honestly, I can't stoop that low.   Honestly, your father is a nuclear physicist..and what happened to you again?  Oh, I hope you mature and grow up by next year, little one!

STERLING SILVER.  We were odd friends in French class, honestly.  You are just too sexy; especially after you got that haircut or that time you looked like Draco Malfoy.  Tchahaha.  I enjoy every minute of your idiocy, and thanks for always feeding me in French.  Good luck with Lauren..actually I should wish her luck because agreeing to go out with you was obviously proof of how you've damaged her poor mind!  Teehee.  I like the way you dance.

Whoa, ho.  It's the pretty ladies!  Lindsay & Lauren  I barely see them separated.  Lindsay is always positively ecstatic, and I can't help it..it made me feel yuckie in the inside.  But then!  She frowned and I had warm fuzzy feelings.  Teehee.  Lauren is intelligent and completely capable, but why she chose Sterling for a boyfriend is beyond me.  Teehee.  They are both fantastic girls that I hope to get to know better next year.

LOOK AT THAT NAZI!  Wait, no, excuse me..SEAN. You commy.  Seriously, there's so many of you these days.  Aren't you starting a club?  Tchaha.  Can I be VP in a communist club? LOL.  Anyway, we met in debate and this loser seems to show up everywhere.  Don't leave me with Steve alone!  He'll do something naaasty like the cubs fan he is.  Yuckk.  Let's chill, my homie for real.

Whoa, Polina.  My math class buddy.  Jean & Nancy left her, so I felt obligated to sit by her.  All right, so I was a big meany and yes a cocky big big asshole, but I'm sorry.  She frustrated me, but I tried to be nice!  I even bought cookie dough!  Sorry, Polina, but you are a brilliant person, if only you would work!  You have a bright future ahead of you, don't give up.

Anne! She came to our lunch table and so did a lot of new people.  I feel bad for leaving it, but Nate was just so much fun.  I did come and visit often though and Anne was always fun.  I always recognized her because she would call out, "Chica!" in the hallways.  I'm saddened that she graduated, which means no more Sudoku crazy lady at the lunch table.

Christine!  She just came this year from the Philippines and was in my English class for 2nd semester.  We started talking towards the end of the year discussing Filipino things.  We were shy at first to speak to each other in Filipino, but she understands my dialect, so I was delighted!  I hope we can hang out more in the summer.

Oh, yes.  Dan.  He's supposed to be a freshman, I say, but needless to say he is a genius.  We met on academic team.  We've seen each other randomly throughout school since then, and I like to wave once in a while.  I even tried to persuade him to dance at TWIRP.  Of course, that was a disaster.  I hope to see him in academic team again.

WHAT A SEXY BEASTIt's Oscar!  Oh, dear.  He's gay, let's just say it out right now.  But so sexy even straight girls would make out with him.  Teehee.  You have been a pleasure to converse with in English, Spanish, AND French!  Oscar was rather touchy feely, but that's okay.  He just has a lot of love.  C'est horrible que tu n'est pas ici avec moi. I miss you!

Colleen!  Ooh, so pretty.  Teehee.  We met in French class and had some conversations from across the room?  Then we sat next to each other, and I discovered a homework buddy..or rather a person who didn't do homework as well!  Teehee.  Madame Welty should have just skipped us entirely, don't you think? You're gorgeous.  Do you remember when Madame Patkunis said that the boys in your old class were like, "Hey, where did that one girl go?"  They were so sad.  Have a fantastic summer!

Laurie.  What a pretty..LOUD person!  Goodness, woman.  I am so glad you're lively.  We first met at our isolated lockers in the tech hallway.  I hope you continue to play volleyball, and we can play over the summer to "hone" our "nonexistent skills".  Teehee.  You have so much mirth in your eyes, and if anyone takes it away intentionally..I will hurt them.  Honestly, you are such a loving person, and you deserve all the best..except for when you play the boys.  Don't be a heartbreaker, love.

More pictures:

Christine, Abby, Krisha (ALL FILIPINOS) Yes, basically the only Asians in school!  Tchahah.

Theresa, gym & bowling buddy.

Kyle. He has great ambitions!  To be a pharmacist.  Teehee.

Jackie
& Me!  We met at French Club.

Amanda.  Met randomly at gym.  SO MUCH MAKEUP, WOMAN!

Rae!  Wow, genius, freshman.  Good luck at IMSA!

Teehee, I have a special connection with librarians.

Margot!  Okay, that's not your real name.  Lol.  Yeaah, Freench rocks my world.  And maybe I'll take your advice about the boy thing.

Madame Welty!  You were veeery nice indeed.  Hope to see you next year!  And don't take it personally that I didn't do the homework.

It's Josh!  The "Hi and Bye" friend.  We didn't have any classes but we frequently saw each other in the halls or at the library.  A very pleasant acquaintance.

I would like to end this post with a picture of Mrs. Price who retired this year.  She was the first confidante I found at this school and she never failed to support me.  She praised my work and boosted my confidence (as if it's not big enough already!).  I greatly appreciate her efforts in teaching us.  I hope that she enjoyed her work as a teacher.  I will definitely keep in touch, and if you want her email..message me for it!

Mrs. Price, Hyunah, Polina, & Me

I might move again this summer, but the chances of that happening are becoming slimmer as the summer moves along.  A part of me yearns to move away again and leave this dreadfully boring place, but I have met people that left an impression on my life.

I hope I have made an impression on your lives as well.
This sophomore year was quite satisfactory.

OH MY GOODNESS!

MY APPLICATION WAS ACCEPTED!
I'M GOING TO WASHINGTON DC AND NEW YORK!!!

Now that I've gotten almost all the excitement out of my system, I believe that I should provide an elaboration!

Well, a month or two ago, my economics teacher talked about this program called LeadAmerica.  They're supposed to be Leadership Conferences for outstanding high school students.  It seemed that she would get information about this every year, and her job was to nominate her students to this Congressional Student Leadership Conference.  She showed us brochures and the like.  Obviously, I was completely thrilled about this!  I mean, REALLY!  This was definitely something that I had always been interested in.

TO MY SURPRISE, I WAS NOMINATED BY MY TEACHER!!!!

A few weeks later, I received a thick envelope filled with things like a certificate of nomination, a brochure that included the various programs that they offered, and the application itself.  The first person I wanted to share this information with was my love, Brian, but for a reason that I can't remember, he put me in a bad mood at that certain moment.  I tried not to let it bother me, but it did anyway....

Well, I showed it to my parents, and they completely supported me.  They encouraged me and continued to do so throughout my application process.  Now, we don't have the funds to do this, but they believe that this is a chance of a lifetime.  They didn't want me to miss my chance.

Of course, my application was a little delayed considering I couldn't get my lazy butt to write the short essay for the scholarship application.  BUT!  I eventually finished and sent it in the mail one cold morning.  I was anxious and scared, but the anticipation is all part of the experience....

A few days later...
FRIDAY, DECEMBER 16, 2005
I checked my email in the morning after writing my lab report..to find an "admissions" email waiting for me in my inbox.

HOLY SHIT!

MY APPLICATION WAS APPROVED.

I WAS MOST DEFINITELY ATTENDING THE CONFERENCE IN THE SUMMER OF 2006!

At this point, if I had lived in the moment..I would have fainted, but the bus was coming in 5 minutes.  I screamed in my charming but idiotic manner..and my mother and sister were startled.  My mother was very excited for me..but it seemed that my sister didn't even care.  I didn't notice it or mind because HELL, I JUST GOT ACCEPTED.  I had to quicken my pace out the door with the email printed in my hand.  I screamed in utter delight and danced/ran my way to the bus stop with a few twirls in the street.  God, was I happy....

At school, I told my economics teacher and she said that, "I would be a great representative of the school."  My English teacher was very proud of me.  !!!!!!Ahhhh, the feelings are great.

After a shortened day, I went home happily.  I tried to call all my family members and telling them, but I couldn't reach some of them.  Oh, well.  They shall know soon enough!  I was very excited to have told almost all of my friends.  All of them..are so supportive.

I love you guys!
Colin - You idiot!  Kept me up 2 hours talking.  Haha, I must have ruined your eardrums with all my screaming.  Thank you for being happy for me and being helpful.
Kim - Thanks.
John - Jealous?!  Why in the world would you be?  I'm gonna' stuff you in my suitcase!

Well, I went to the website for registered students and I checked my current balance.  NOT ONLY HAD I GOTTEN ACCEPTED, BUT I HAD GOTTEN ALL $300 OF THE SCHOLARSHIP!  Oh, god.  I wasn't a complete failure after all!  Oh, geez.  Oh, geez.  I was freaking out.  Realization hit me!

I'M NOT AN IDIOT!

Teehee.  I was deliriously happy.  I read up on as much as I could.  Ooh, ooh!  I never told you guys which conference I'm doing!
